Analyzing Voices
As the signature is basically the name of the person expressed in a graph, I requested people to tell me their names pronounced by themselves so I can get the entonation, modulation and accent of the voices and analyze them digitally and conceptually.
Below there is a simple experiment about replacing people voices with a cycle~ MSP object.
Note: For better perception please use headphones.
Akiko Rokube:

The Sound of Writing
In this experiment that is about audio only, I requested people to sign their names. The result of each little sample is this the sound of the pen scratching the surface of the paper.

My Signature with sound
In this is a little app. built by Friedrich Kirschner. I was playing around with the idea of using it as a tool to create a different feeling toward what it means my signature.

Echo visuals - experiment
This is a very dirty prototype where I tested the idea of using the amplitude of voice as a trigger to create snapshots that look as trails of people presence in a place.

Mirrored Voices: User Testing
Updates:
DT students as users:Carrie Mae Schneider Kreyche, Chun-Yu Huang and Hsiang Ju Hung.
Initial Plan:
By the time I submited my Written Proposal, my plan was to test with sound and images different outputs that could produce in the user a reaction as trace or signature. I started to build 2 Max patches for this purpose, one was a simple voice recorder with delay and the other one was a snapshot camera that could be triggered by the amplitude of the voice, displaying multilayered movement of the user that would fade out and create a loop.
However, after a meeting with Anezka to talk about my ideas and prototypes. She adviced me to think and do everything in small steps, trying to test and analize simple things while I continue in the building of other more complex prototypes. Following her advice, I decided to test in a more simple way. Thus, as a very small step, I just tested my concept of voice as signature by the use of ECHO (digital delay). Interviewing my users and asking them questions about the feeling of having this mirrored action of their voices in individual and collectives performances.
The decision of using ECHO for this experiment is due to the factor that it creates a trail of the sound event on the space and at the same time, acoustically, is the result of how our voices vibrate on that specific place, creating an "sound imprint" of the voice and the space.
This is what happened in this experimental session of ECHOS:

Comments from my users:
Hsiang Ju:
"the Echo is like talking to another person"
Chan yu:
"I think my voice sounds like a girl even though sometimes is deeper and I have an accent"
"what you hear from my voice is different from what I hear"
"I think is more poetic to hear my voice with Echo than just play it back"
"it is like talking with yourself"
"Because you also make the sense of distance"
Collective Chords
This prototype tried to create, in a very dirty way, a multi-track device to record people voices, so when it is played the result can stand as an usual overlap of voices that can be assumed as sort of chord.

Summer Prototype: "Exploring the concept of signature"
As a way to explore the concept of what can be a signature I used a paper canvas and ask people from the lab to create a gesture that could means their personality
